Three Car Accident Temporarily Closes Highway 38

Big Bear, Ca, January 5, 2011, 3: 25pm - Highway 38 is temporarily closed this afternoon from, Lake Williams to Forest Falls, due to a three-car accident 3 miles north of Forest Falls in which the three vehicles are blocking the roadway.  According to Darrin Cooke, of Cal Trans, there was a head on traffic collision, where there has been at least one fatality at this time and two Mercy Air ships have been called in to assist.  Cooke stated that the road may be temporarily closed for up to 5 hours.  At this time use alternate routes, Highway 18 through Lucerne Valley, or Highway 18 The front grade past Lake Arrowhead to travel up or down the mountain.
