slowcone-thumbCalTrans will tomorrow host a public information meeting for the Highway 18 safety-widening project. The section of Highway 18 proposed for widening is in front of the Big Bear City Airport, from Blue Water Drive at Circle K east to Pinon Drive at Thelma’s Restaurant. Additional work proposed by CalTrans for this section of the roadway includes re-striping the intersection to provide for a left-hand turn lane at Big Tree Drive at the airport and to provide eight foot paved shoulders on the north side of the highway, which is also Big Bear Boulevard. The public information meeting will provide information about the project and public comment will be welcomed. The CalTrans meeting is scheduled for tomorrow, September 3rd, from 6 to 8pm at the Big Bear Area Regional Wastewater Agency, which is located at 121 Palomino Drive in Big Bear City. (For some background on other CalTrans projects, see our story posted in June.)
