Police activity [in the 4 o'clock hour], accompanied by both the Big Bear Lake and Big Bear City Fire Departments, on the Boulevard at Main Street in Big Bear Lake this afternoon is due to a storm drain incident involving reportedly 10 junior high-aged children. Officials tell KBHR that 10 children entered the storm drain at Veterans Park. The 10 moved through the drainage system, apparently under Big Bear Boulevard, and at this time, emergency personnel are trying to retrieve them, which has prompted some traffic delays on the Boulevard (adjacent to the Big Bear Lake Fire Department). We are told that seven of the 10 have been extracted from the storm drain, and emergency personnel are still looking for another three.
