Big Bear Well Represented at USA Cycling Mountain Bike National Championships

Big Bear, Ca, July 18, 2011, 12:00pm - Big Bear was well represented this past weekend in Sun Valley Idaho at the USA Cycling Mountain Bike National Championships.  The Williams and Burton families both had three members of their family competing.  While the Williams family is no stranger to the National Championships, it was the Burton boys first time.  13 year old Ryan, 10 year old Zach and 8 year old Alec had a great time at their first nationals, according to mom Tiffany Burton, and she said they will definitely do it again.  As for the Williams family, Casey Williams got 5th in the Junior men 16-18 division, with brother Evan getting a close 2nd place in the Men’s 12-14 division.  Sister Elle Williams, who was last years national champ in her division got 5th place after she sprained her ankle running with her bike through a rocky section of the course.  Mom Kim Williams told KBHR, that this year the competition was very strong in all categories.  Lauren Gregg, a local Cat 1 women’s rider got 3rd place, and Dean Swank long time rider for Bear Valley Bikes got 2nd place in his category.  KBHR congratulates all that participated, and who made Big Bear proud.
