Big Bear, Ca, April 19th, 2011, 5:00pm - Big Bear was well represented in Copper Mountain, Colorado this year for the United States of America Snowboarding Association’s National Championships. 14-year-old Tucker Keating went to nationals for the first time this year, and placed first in the 13-15 year old free skiing division. Tucker, who was born and raised in the Big Bear Valley, was on the Snow Summit Race Team for 4 years before he decided he wanted to try his hand at free skiing competitions which consists of jumps, tricks, and rails. 11-year-old Drayden Gardner placed 8th in the snowboard division for his age group. Drayden is ranked first in California, and this was his fifth time going to nationals. 20-year-old Brandan Monahan placed 1st overall in the 18-22 division for snowboarding. Brandan has been snowboarding for 5 seasons, and this was his first time to nationals. KBHR congratulates Tucker, Drayden and Brandan on their performance at the USASA Nationals!
