Paddlefest is open to all levels!

The Big Bear Paddlefest returns to Fawnskin this weekend, for the second year of the event and the first as part of the Conquer the Bear challenge. Saturday’s activities, hosted by the North Shore Trading Company at Captain John’s Marina on the North Shore, include $20 paddlesport clinics starting at 10am (appropriate for both kayakers and canoers), as well as vendors and an evening slide show presentation. On Sunday, the paddling gets competitive as a series of races begin, starting at 8am with the 10K, which is open to canoe tandem teams, kayak teams, and individual kayakers. Subsequent races in the Grout Bay area of Big Bear Lake include a paddleboard challenge, a 5K and a Kids’ Fun Paddle at 11am. The Paddlefest awards ceremony will be held at 1pm, in conjunction with the Team Big Bear mountain bike awards; this after-party event will be held at La Montaña Restaurant at the Moonridge Y in Big Bear Lake, and will feature reggae band Good Creation.
