Seventeen-year-old Kevin Magdiel, overall winner in Thursday's meet, had placed second in September's Run the Bear half-marathon, overseen by BBHS teacher Beth Gardner.
The Bears cross-country teams hosted the first of De Anza League meets for the season yesterday, hosting four other schools for a race from Snow Summit. The varsity girls team placed second overall, led by senior Sara Chatham, who placed third. Both the boys three-time state champion varsity and JV teams ran their way to first place finishes in their first league matchup, taking an impressive seven of the top nine individual spots in both races. BBHS senior Kevin Magdiel (who, you may recall, placed second in the Run the Bear half-marathon) was Thursday’s overall winner in the cross-country meet.
