Backgrade Motorists May Experience Delays Next Week

Cal Trans Slow for the Cone ZoneBig Bear, Ca, June 30, 2011, 3:00pm - Motorists, who regularly travel on Highway 18 the back grade to Lucerne Valley, will encounter some traffic delays next week due to roadwork.  According to CalTrans there may be delays up to an hour for trucks and larger RV type vehicles, and 15-minute delays for other traffic.  This is due to work being done between post mile 59 and 64 where the road has switchbacks that are very tight, which cause big rigs, and other large vehicles to utilize both lanes as they make their way up and down the hill.  The repairs and delays are expected to take place next week, Wednesday, July 6th through Friday July 8th.
