Abandoned Vehicle on Hwy 38 Leads to the Discovery of Deceased Missing Person

Big Bear Valley, CA, August 7, 2010, 9:49am – According to Officer Gary Fernandez, Information Officer for the CHP, on Friday afternoon, August 6, 2010, at approximately 2:45pm, California Highway Patrol deputies discovered an abandoned vehicle parked on the side of the roadway on Highway 38 near Onyx Summit.  Following standard procedure, the officer ran the license plate and found the vehicle to be registered to someone who is listed as a missing person.  An area search was conducted and deputies discovered the deceased body of the individual.  The identity of the individual or cause of death is not being released at this time.  It is believed that the individual was a male who is not a Big Bear Valley resident who may have taken his own life.  More information will be disclosed as it becomes available.
