mwdlogothumbThe Hobie Cat Regatta will be coming to Big Bear Lake on the weekend of June 20 and 21, as the Big Bear Municipal Water District granted event permit approval for the sailing race at their Board of Directors meeting on May 7. The Board also granted approval to the Big Bear Discovery Center to conduct educational canoe and kayak tours on Big Bear Lake. In other news from Thursday’s MWD meeting, new Lake Patrol officers David Henderson and Adam Williams were pinned by Lake Supervisor Travis Carroll and are now among the team of five who will be patrolling the lake. The Board also selected their fellow Director Todd Murphy to receive their collective vote for the LAFCO alternate position, and reviewed the fiscal year 2009/2010 budget, which will now go to committees for changes. As the regularly scheduled MWD meeting on May 21 will be adjourned due to lack of a quorum (as GM Scott Heule and directors will be in attendance at the ACWA—or Association of California Water Agencies—Conference), the budget will likely be adopted at the next MWD meeting on June 4.
