Winter Trails Day At Discovery Center

Fawnskin, CA, January 8, 2013 - The Southern California Mountains Foundation (formerly San Bernardino/National Forest Association) and co-presenter, REI, will host the second Southern California Winter Trails Day on January 12, 2012 from 10am until 2pm at the Big Bear Discovery Center.  Winter Trails is a national event that offers those new to snow sports an opportunity to try snowshoeing and and other winter activities FREE. A 30-minute introduction to snowshoeing will be hosted every hour starting at 10:30am.  Registration will be available at 10am limited to 20 people per demonstration. Snowshoes will be provided.  Participants must provide their own transportation to the demonstration location, maps will be available at registration.   Demonstrations are free. Snowshoeing is an excellent form of low-risk, low impact aerobic exercise that can help improve or maintain cardiovascular fitness as well as burn calories. The Discovery Center youth volunteers will sell hot chocolate and snacks – including making s’mores – as a fund raiser for their youth volunteer program. For more information call the Discovery Center at 382-2790.
