The Big Bear Valley Historical Society opens the summer season of the Big Bear Historical Museum, the only museum in the San Bernardino mountains, for the Memorial Day weekend! The museum features local history and artifacts, including an authentic 1875 log cabin, a rare working gold stamp mill, cattle ranching and lumbering exhibits, displays of native animals and birds, a working blacksmith shop, and the 1906 Doble schoolhouse. Donation is $3 for adults, free for children 14 and under. Museum is located in Big Bear City; driveway on the east side of Greenway Drive (which is also Highway 18 and Highway 38). Open Saturdays, Sundays, Wednesdays and holiday Mondays through October’s first weekend, 10am to 4pm. More info: bigbearhistory.org or 909/585-8100.
