Old Miners Big Bear Heritage Parade

Big Bear Lake, CA, April 5, 2013 – This summer, Big Bear Lake celebrates the 65th year of Old Miners Days festivities. The Old Miners Big Bear Heritage Parade is scheduled for Saturday, June 15, 2013 and will honor all first responders, law enforcement and military with the theme “Big Bear Thanks You.” The parade begins at 4pm and goes west on Big Bear Boulevard from Summit Boulevard to Georgia Street.  The parade will be preceded by a mid-day reception at the Big Bear Lake Convention Center that will welcome our law enforcement and military personnel participating in the parade, and the public is welcome. North Shore Drive Closure

Fawnskin, CA, April 3, 2013 – Highway 38, North Shore Drive, will be closed from Stanfield Cutoff west to the Fawnskin triangle on Thursday, April 4, 8:00AM – 4:00PM for the Big Bear Time Trial of the 29th Annual Redlands Bicycle Classic. Please also be aware of heavy bicycle traffic on the southbound lane of North Shore Drive between Stanfield Cutoff and Division from 9:00AM– 12:00PM, although this portion of the road will be open, professional riders will be warming up for the races. Barstow Courtroom Will Stay Open Temporarily

Barstow, CA, April 3, 2013 – Back in December of last year, the San Bernardino Superior Court announced the second phase of cost reduction measures needed to partially address a funding shortfall. The measures included the closure of the Barstow courthouse. The closures would reduce the availability of courts for residents who live in areas that are distant from remaining courthouses. Following the announcement of the plan to close the courthouses, Court leaders engaged state and local government leaders, regional bar groups, and others in order to find solutions that could mitigate some of the impact of the closures. Consequently, the Court has announced a plan to maintain the operation of one courtroom in Barstow, three days per week, beginning May 6, 2013. This action will allow traffic, landlord-tenant, small claims and domestic violence cases to continue to be heard at this location. Civil, family law, and criminal cases will still be transferred to other locations, consistent with current plans. The Court intends to keep the courtroom operational through June 21, 2014.  ...
